And not the size of my own stature"

Travelling broadens our minds, enriches our spirits and fosters cooperative working among different countries. This is the essence of the Erasmus Projects. And this is what teachers and students alike, taking part in this kind of experiences, gain.
From last 6th till 11th September 2021 teachers from six European countries gathered together in Viseu, Portugal as part of the first Staff Training Event of the Erasmus +Project The More you Learn, the Better you Improve.
European partners coming from Turkey, Lithuania, Greece, Italy and Spain received a very heartwarming welcome on behalf of the Portuguese team of teachers, who showed us the Alves Martins High School (ESAM), Viseu and its beautiful surroundings, Aveiro, Coimbra and Oporto, letting us get a deeper insight of the Portuguese culture.
In Viseu we visited the Grao Vasco National Museum, the City Hall and the Europe Direct Dao Lafoes, where we attended a very interesting lecture about “The Importance of Mobility and the Role of Young People for a More Cohesive Europe”.
In Aveiro we could enjoy a boat trip along those beautiful channels, we could see Art Noveau in the Arte Nova Museum and in its amazing streets. And in Coimbra we visited the Univertity and Joanina’s impressive library.
During these days in Viseu we held coordination meetings to establish the dates of the differents mobilities and to distribute specific tasks among the partners of the different countries.
In Alves Martins high school we attented another lecture “Browse Safely? Secure School Internet”, by Dr Luís Almeida and Dr Paula Gomes from IDGJ, which we found particulary interesting and very useful to put into practice in our classrooms
We learnt that Alves Martins Secondary School (ESAM) is currently one of the country’s biggest schools with around 2000 students, and we were particularly impressed by the fact that this high school promotes the so called programme Centro Qualifica, which specializes in the qualification of adults, and by the fact that Alvens Martins is also a reference in the education of the region’s deaf and hard-of–hearing students.
Also, we were intrigued by the Orchard Programm, its own TV station, and its recycling philosophy in the distribution of recycling bins all over the high school.
ESAM is also involved in many outstanding Activity Plans and currently it participates in eight Erasmus + projects, which is really awesome.
All of this in the pursuit of spurring a code of good manners, and the values of responsibility, and citizenship in its students.
We all came back to our countries with our pockets full of thrilling emotions, fullfilled expectations and a very enriching experience.
